Calypso Charybdis Ba52e539711b812b540004d64b117e4b1242490307_full
Full Name: Calypso Athena Charybdis (Cuh-lip-so Uh-thee-nuh Charb-diss)
Nickname(s): Cal, Callie, Charybdis
Preferred Name: She doesn't really mind, though she prefers that people who aren't really close to her call her Calypso. She would never correct anyone, of course.
Simal or Hego: Simal
Age: 17
D.O.B.: December 18
Gender: Female
Race/Ethnicity: American
Skin Tone: Somewhat pale
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 102 lbs
Build: Slender. Not very muscular, but she's still strong.
Eyes: Amber
Hair: Light brown. It's parted on the left and falls maybe an inch or two below her shoulders. Her bangs fall about an inch or two below her cheek bones and part with the rest of her hair, swooping to either side.
Piercings and Identifying Marks: She has a thin scar below her left eye. Her back and arms are an endless maze of scars.
Weapon of Choice/Martial Arts Training: Scythe. She was trained by a very skilled scythesman, despite the fact that he was young.
Special Ability: Supernatural Synthesia. Basically, people are different colors to her, depending on their mood, emotion, personality, etc. Certain objects may also have different colors, like the sun, for example. The scythesman that taught her how to fight also helped her organize the different "layers" of color that belong to each person and helped her distinguish what some of the more difficult colors meant.
Mental and/or Physical Disabilities: Disorders - Severe Panic Disorder: She has frequent and reoccurant panic attacks. She's lucky if she can get through the day without having one. She's also terrified of her next attack. Phobic Disorder: She has numerous phobias and anticipates terrifying consequences from encountering the objects of her fear. She understands that most of her fears don't necessarily make sense, but is still overwhelmed by the fear. Delusional Disorder: This diagnosis is false. She actually has Supernatural Synthesia, despite what the "professionals" say. Disabilities - Legally Blind: She can hardly see anything. All she can see are shapes, silhouettes, shadows, etc. The only colors she can see are that which her ability allows her to see.
Phobia(s): Achluophobia – fear of darkness, Agoraphobia - fear of places or events where escape is impossible or when help is unavailable, Androphobia – fear of men, Astraphobia – fear of thunder and lightning, Claustrophobia – fear of having no escape and being closed in, Erotophobia – fear of abuse, Hoplophobia – fear of guns, Nosocomephobia – fear of hospitals, Pharmacophobia – fear of medications, Phonophobia – fear of loud sounds, Pyrophobia – fear of fire, Radiophobia – fear of radioactivity or X-rays, Trypanophobia - fear of needles or injections, Spasmenagaliaphobia – fear of broken glass. Yeah. Long list.
Place of Birth: Deadhorse, Alaska
Family: Mother and Father, both deceased, two adopted sisters, one older, one younger, four adopted brothers, three older, one younger. None of her adopted siblings are legally adopted or anything. You'll see.
Personality: Cal is very quiet. She rarely talks and is usually by herself trying not to run into any of the objects of her fear. She's very shy and doesn't really like people, especially men. There has only been one exception to this fear after her incident. If you have the pleasure (and the patience) to get to know her, you'll find that Cal is one of the sweetest people on the planet. She'll often act like a small child and cling to you if she feels comfortable around you. She relies heavily on any friends that she happens to make. She tries not to be too clingy, but ever since her incident... Well... Cal wasn't always so afraid and shy. She's always been fairly reserved, but she used to go up and talk to people (if she had anything to say to them) just fine. And then the incident. Or, rather, the series of incidents.
History: Calypso Athena Charybdis was born to a very eccentric family. Both her father and mother were obsessed with Greek mythology, particularly the Odyssey by Homer, hence Cal's name. Long story short, her father got into mythology because of his last name, then he met Cal's mother at some convention or something, they fell in love, got married, and voila! Cal appears on the scene. For about ten years, Cal's life went along perfectly. Her parents were awesome and they loved her to pieces. They always knew the right thing to say and were always there for her. They were her best friends. She had no idea what torture the next seven years of her life would hold. When Cal came home from school one day, she found that her parents had both been murdered that day, their mangled, deceased bodies in front of her. Wating for her was their killer. He kidnapped her and took her into hiding with him, often doing unspeakable things to the ten-year-old. Cal finally escaped when she was fifteen. She ran to the authorities, who immediately went after her captor, and sent her to the hospital. She had been severly wounded that day, her back and arms bleeding uncontrollably. Her eyesight had nearly been lost during her imprisonment, but she had also gained her ability. The doctors at the hospital found her amazing and decided to go through with experimentation within a week. Luckily, a mysterious young man with a scythe broke her out before they could do her any harm. At first, Cal was terrified of the man, Rome, but he quickly gained her trust. She slept in an old, sheltered ally and waited every day for about six monthe for Rome to come back in the morning. She never questioned where he went at night and during the day, occasionally. He taught her how to use his scythe, helped her with her vision, helped her with her ability, and, eventually, got her her own scythe. He was seventeen at the time and was always gentle and kind to her. When Rome saw that she was ready, he brought her with him to his "family." Paris, their protective, bossy leader and Rome's older sister, age nineteen. Fira, the violent, show-no-mercy and show-no-weakness ten-year-old, Kato and Turka's little sister. Kato, the sixteen-year-old perverted, nosy, oh-so-cool, and mischeivious older brother of Turka and Fira. Turka, the pyromaniac, impulsive, and insane thirteen-year-old brother of Kato and Fira. Oha and Roe, the identical, show-no-emotion, strong, silent, and dark eighteen-year-old twin brothers. And then there was Rome, the only one of the group that wasn't cold-hearted. He eventually convinced hi sister to take Cal in though Cal could tell right away that Paris didn't like that most of Rome's attention had been taken by Cal. Still, Cal lived a fairly good life with the rag-tag bunch of misfits until she was about sixteen. Rome remained the only one she truly trusted, and she constantly had to be around him, but eventually became a bit more comfortable around everyone else in the gang. That's pretty much what it was - a gang that lived off the streets, getting what it could to survive. When Cal was sixteen, the gang was confronted with a gang that was new to town. Paris got territorial and the gangs, despite Rome's warnings, went to war. Rome convinced Paris to let Cal stay home, seeing as she was terrified of guns and there would likely be guns at this big fight. No one came back for Cal. She waited over a week before she decided that she had to give up. It was the last thing she wanted, but she left to find another family, preferrably one that wouldn't get killed. The first thing she found was the Simals. She's been with them ever since, and doesn't feel comfortable around anyone.
Other: She can play the piano exceptionally well. There's something almost magical about the way she plays that often moves people to tears.
Theme Song: To Know That You're Alive by Kutless
Roleplayed by: Libby (A Nice Piece Of Art)
